Biography

Dr. Mario Pigni is an orthopedic surgeon at the Joint Surgery and Sports Traumatology Unit and the Orthopedics 1 Unit at the Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1975, where he also specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1978 and in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in 1981.

In 1991, he attended the clinic of Lanny Johnson in Lansing, Michigan (USA), and later the operating rooms of E. Wolf (San Francisco), S. Schneider (Los Angeles), and S. Burckardt (San Antonio, Texas), specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopic surgery. He also attended cadaver lab courses in Palm Desert, California.

From 1977 to 2011, Dr. Pigni worked as an Assistant, then Senior Surgeon, and eventually Acting Head of the Orthopedic Department at Legnano Hospital, focusing on traumatology, arthroscopic surgery, and prosthetics. Since 2011, he has been working as an orthopedic surgeon at Villa Aprica, and until 2023, he continued his role there. He currently serves as a consulting outpatient specialist.

Dr. Pigni has been a speaker at national orthopedic and traumatology surgery courses and conferences and has authored several publications in national scientific journals within the same field.
