Giuseppe Puliafito
Biography
Dr. Giuseppe Puliafito is the Head of the Hand Surgery Department at Istituto Clinico San Siro in Milan.
He completed his medical education at the University of Pavia, where he earned his medical degree and, in 1994, his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology. From 1994 to 1999, he served as a researcher at Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, supported by a Ministerial Scholarship for IRCCS "Nerve Repair" research.
During the 1990s, Dr. Puliafito focused on clinical trials related to the use of low molecular weight calcitic heparin as prophylaxis against thromboembolic complications in orthopedic surgery. He has performed over 10,000 surgeries, the majority of which he led as the primary surgeon. His expertise includes Hand and Foot Surgery, hip and knee prosthetics, and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, and other joints.
Dr. Puliafito is the author of 46 scientific articles and presentations, and he has participated in 85 conferences and 4 cadaver labs. Throughout his career, he has received several prestigious awards, including the SIOT Award in 1991 for a study titled "Clinical-Radiographic Study and Ultrasound Mineralometry in Patients with Vertebral Collapse."
