Franco Rongioletti

Professor Franco Rongioletti heads the Department of Clinical Dermatology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele and is a Professor of Dermatology at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. He teaches dermatology at the courses of Medicine and Surgery and at the courses of Dentistry at the Vita-Salute S. Raffaele University of Milan. He is also an adjunct Professor of Dermatology at the Miller University Institute of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery, Miami, Florida.

He was a professor of dermatology at the University of Cagliari, where he headed the Dermatology Clinic and the School of Specialization of Dermatology and Venereology.

After graduating in 1982 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Genoa, he specialized in dermatology in 1985, in 1989 - in tropical dermatology and leprology at the same university, and finally in 1994 - in pathological anatomy at the University of Siena.

From a clinical point of view, the professor's interest is mainly focused on the diagnosis and therapy of chronic inflammatory diseases and skin cancer, especially on carcinomas and melanomas. His interest is also focused on skin signs of systemic diseases, allergic skin diseases, common diseases such as acne, alopecia and hair diseases, control of melanocytic nevi, sexual diseases and rare diseases of adults and children.

Professor Rongioletti's research activities are focused, in particular, on: psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, purulent hydradenitis, rosacea, autoimmune diseases and connective tissue diseases such as scleroderma, malignant skin neoplasms such as melanoma, for which he conducted numerous phase 2 and 3 clinical trials.

The professor is a member of the Center of Excellence for the Study of Molecular Mechanisms of Clinical Immunology (CEBR) of the University of Genoa and an assistant editor of the Journal European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV) and Clinics in Dermatology. He also holds institutional positions in various scientific societies: Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Dermatologists (SIDeMAST) and Honorary member of the Swiss Society of Dermatologists (SGDV), Serbian Society of Dermatovenerologists (UDVS), North American Society of Dermatology, Maltese Society of Dermatologists (MVD), Bulgarian Society of Dermatologists and EDF (European Dermatology Forum).

He is the author of works on dermatology devoted to malignant neoplasms of the skin and skin manifestations in endocrinological and metabolic diseases. Author of more than 370 original scientific articles published in international journals. His Hirsch index is 37. He was the president of numerous congresses on dermatology, and also constantly participated as a speaker and moderator at national and international congresses in this field.
