Franco Parente
Biography
Prof. Franco Parente is the Head of the Orthopedic Unit at the Istituto Clinico San Siro in Milan (since 2002) and the Director of the Center of Excellence for Hip and Knee Prosthetic Surgery. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute.
Since 2016, he has served as a Tutor of Orthopedics and Traumatology on behalf of the University of Milan.
At this university, he earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1981 and specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1986. He then moved to the United States, where he completed master’s programs related to Prosthetic Surgery at prestigious institutions such as the Kerlan-Jobee Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, California, the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, among others.
His specific area of expertise is Hip and Knee Prosthetic Surgery. At the Istituto Clinico San Siro, he offers consultancy services in Risk Management. Within the Orthopedic Unit, he manages and organizes clinical care pathways, identifying the most suitable clinical procedures and surgical programs for each patient. In 2000, he deepened his expertise in Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery, performing more than 1,400 implants with bone-preserving stems.
Prof. Franco Parente frequently serves as a Speaker at various training courses, congresses, and conferences. He publishes scientific papers in national and international journals such as Clinical Respiratory Physiology, Minerva Ortopedica, and Ortopedia e Traumatologia Oggi. Since 2017, he has been a Consultant for Italcert in the area of medical devices, and in 2018, he was included as a Researcher in projects at various Scientific Institutes for Research, Hospitalization, and Healthcare.
