Alfonso Piccoli
Biography
Dr. Alfonso Piccoli is the Head of the Internal Medicine Unit at the San Rocco Clinical Institute in Brescia and, since 2018, a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of L'Aquila.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1991 from La Sapienza University of Rome and specialized six years later in Internal Medicine at the University of Brescia. In 2000, he also completed a specialization in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.
At the San Rocco Clinical Institute, Dr. Piccoli leads the Internal Medicine department, which consists of a team of 4 specialist physicians and 12 nurses. The department handles around 400 acute hospital admissions annually, supporting the Emergency Department (DEA) and the Medical Outpatient Clinic, which includes a Diabetology Service with 2,500 registered patients.
Since 2001, Dr. Piccoli has been involved in managing and organizing training courses for healthcare professionals, accredited by the Ministry of Health. He has been a member of the Agenas Experts Register since 2014 and serves as Lead Auditor for Breast Centres Certification (BCCT) based on EUSOMA criteria, conducting evaluations across Europe. Between 1994 and 1995, he served at Ghedi Military Airport as a Medical Lieutenant in the Italian Air Force. He currently holds the role of Reservist in the Italian Air Force.
