Chromosomal aneuploidies

What is it?

Chromosomal aneuploidy syndromes include a wide range of chromosome number alterations. They are usually characterized by the presence of one more or less copy of an entire chromosome or part of it or by the presence of a marker chromosome (small piece of a chromosome).

Causes and risk factors

These are generally sporadic abnormalities due to altered chromosome segregation in meiosis; some cases are due to unbalanced chromosome translocations present in a parent.

Which are the symptoms?
